We’re Not Ones To Brag, But…

Okay, really. We don’t like to brag, but we do like to give credit where it’s due. The team at Adjective & Co. was recognized for their work from the past year by the American Advertising Federation (AAF- Jacksonville) at the 2016 ADDY Awards this past weekend.

Adjective & Co. was presented with 13 ADDY awards, the most total awards of the night. In addition to the prestigious “Best of Show,” Adjective & Co. took home seven golds, four silvers and the Judge’s Award.

“Serial entrepreneurs,” co-owners Autumn Berrang and Taylor Harkey have recently ventured outside the agency world and co-founded several new modern businesses in Jacksonville Beach including Watts Juicery, a cold-pressed juice bar and Really Good Beer Stop, a craft-beer growler franchise. Both of those businesses won awards on Saturday night for their excellence in branding and advertising.

“It’s really freeing to develop creative work without some of the boundaries of a traditional ‘client/agency’ relationship,” said Harkey. “It’s always been rewarding to create great work for our clients, but there is something particularly motivating about building businesses that you actually have a stake in. Knowing all aspects of the business allows you to create things impossible for a traditional marketing agency.”

The team also co-founded Whalebone Media, the brand that won several gold ADDYs, the Judge’s Award and “Best of Show.” It was Whalebone magazine’s “submersive media,” an unconventional approach to “blending” advertising and editorial into an immersive reader experience that made the unorthodox work stand out to this year’s ADDY judges.

Even though some of their work is national, the growth of the Jacksonville business community remains Adjective & Co.’s top priority.

“We are proud to represent Jacksonville in larger markets like New York. But we are in such a significant growth stage here in Jacksonville, we are dedicated to continue to bring to life many of the great millennial-friendly brands that are playing a role in shaping the landscape of the community and attracting high-level talent to the region,” Berrang said. “Jacksonville is home, and we are excited to be making it better every day — and we have much more in store in the near future.”
